Petoskey stones are fossilized coral from about 350 million years ago, when a warm, shallow sea covered what is now Michigan.

Stone hunters walk the shoreline looking for the tiny six-sided pattern. Get a stone wet and the pattern pops right out.
Chapter 03 · Pocket Fossil
Our Petoskey slime has the pattern built in: hexagon charms swirled into smooth gray goo. No wading required.
